There are two types of exams – one is the National Practical Law Library (NPPL) exam, and the other is the State Examiners’ Examination (SLE) type. Both syllabus are similar, and the only difference is that for the NPPL syllabus you have to study for a maximum of 1500 hours, while for SLE exam you have to study for only 100 hours. The reason for this is that SLE syllabus includes reading materials along with answering several questions that are related to the law. However, for the NPPF syllabus, you have to prepare and study for the whole test.
For both the syllabuses, you have to pass the examination in order to pass it. There are four sections in the NPPF examination, each of which has two sub-sections. In each of the sub-sections, the students have to answer multiple choice questions under a time limit. The students can take help from the official study guide, CDs, and DVDs available with the syllabus or from the internet.
A large number of students find it very difficult to understand the syllabus. Many of them also find it difficult to understand the multiple choice questions of the examination. The best way of tackling these problems is to take the help of revision courses. These courses are designed to help students prepare for the NPPF legal exam by giving them thorough knowledge about the syllabus, the format of the examination and about the types of questions that they will be required to answer.
The NPPF syllabus consists of four major areas. These are Federal Government and Legal Services, Taxation and Income, Public Administration, and Environmental Law. Most of the exams cover the Federal Government and Legal Services, while the taxation and income one cover the topics related to taxation. The Public Administration one mainly deals with governmental policies, while the environmental one concentrates on the laws and regulations related to environmental issues. The blended e-learning package of the NPPF consists of the four examinations.
The syllabus of the examination consists of several interactive sessions, discussion boards, mock tests and video lectures. Though, in the beginning, the exam was created by the Federal Trade Commission, but later, the exam was introduced by the National Practitioners’ Board for Law Students. The examination is given in cooperation with the National Institute for Public Credit Law and the National Practitioner’s Board for Professional Responsibility.
As already mentioned earlier, the National Institute for Public Credit Law develops the exam after consulting a panel of lawyers. After a lot of consultation and discussions, the panel finally decides on the structure, contents and the format of the exam. In the first part of the blended e-learning package of the examination, the students are prepared with multiple choice questions. The multiple choice question parts include:
In the second part of the exam, the students are sent questionnaires. These questionnaires cover three topics, which are: Business Environment and Ethics, Taxation and Income, and Legal Education and Awareness. The third part of the syllabus mainly includes video lectures. The NPPF offers various types of online classes to prepare the students for the NPPF exam.
The study materials include e-books, audio lessons, mock tests, mock quizzes and practice exams. These materials help the students to prepare well and to understand the various legal topics. The exam also consists of an essay and a practice exam. The essay contains general information and a point study question that help the students to analyze and write an essay. This helps them develop their writing skills and their command over the English language.
In order to study for the NPPF exam, you have to complete a degree program from a law school that is accredited by the National Postsecondary School Accreditation Commission (NPSAC). You should also complete a master’s degree program or a doctoral program from an institution that is approved by the NPPF. The school accountancy and legal teaching requirements vary with different universities. In addition to that, there are also additional prerequisites, which depend on the university, including: current English language proficiency and knowledge of the court system in the area where you want to practice law.
Once you have successfully completed the registration process and other required documents, you can sit for the exam. Students who successfully pass the exam will be given a certification card. This certification card serves as proof for the legal training and knowledge that you possess. Students can take the legal exam again if they wish to practice law at a later stage. However, it is strongly recommended that students take the exam once they are fully prepared for it.
